One should aim for moderate-intensity workouts at least five days a week for optimal stroke risk reduction.4. Quit smoking - Smoking elevates the risk of blood clots that cause a stroke. Limit alcohol - It is recommended to limit alcohol to no more than two drinks per day for men and no more than one per day for women.6.
